Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon
The Grand
Canyon is more than a great chasm carved over millennia through
the rocks of the Colorado Plateau. It is more than an
awe-inspiring view. It is more than a pleasuring ground for
those that explore the roads, hike the trails, or float the
currents of the turbulent Colorado River. This canyon is a gift
that transcends what we experience. Its beauty and size humbles
us. Its timelessness provokes a comparison to our short
existence. In its vast spaces we may find solace from our hectic
lives. |

500 Miles of Shoreline!
 |
|
|
Smith Mountain Lake
Located in the heartland of
the Appalachian Blue Ridge Mountains is Smith Mountain Lake,
Virginia. It's surreal mountain backdrops, and five hundred miles
of shoreline made Smith Mountain Lake the ideal film location
for the motion picture, "What About Bob". Now the imaginary town
from the hit television show, "Andy of Mayberry, RFD" is being
replicated at the lake. The lake offers dozens of
resorts,
marinas and
golf courses along with a lake life style, home to
the fifty plus pound
fish, and low taxes
that hard to beat. |

Crater Lake
 |
|
|
Crater Lake
Crater Lake has inspired
people for hundreds of years. No place else on earth combines a
deep, pure lake, so blue in color; sheer surrounding cliffs,
almost two thousand feet high; two picturesque islands; and a
violent volcanic past. It is a place of immeasurable beauty, and
an outstanding outdoor laboratory and classroom. Crater Lake is
located in Southern Oregon on the crest of the Cascade Mountain
range, 100 miles east of the Pacific Ocean. It lies inside a
caldera, or volcanic basin, created when the 12,000 foot high
Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago following a large
eruption. |

Hawaii
 |
|
|
Hawaii
Hawaii contains eight national
parks. The islands are most famous for their volcanoes,
beautiful landscapes and complex ecosystems which offer unusual
hiking and camping opportunities. Other parks were established
to preserve native activities, history and culture from ancient
ritual sites to a Hansen's disease colony. Hawaii is also home
to a national memorial designed to encourage quiet
contemplation, and to appeal to our memory and sense of
sacrifice after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. |

Alaska
 |
|
|
Alaska
Alaska is expansive and
diverse. Its magnitude is difficult to comprehend, but its
rewards are many and apparent. For climate and topography, "the
Great Land" constitutes a virtual subcontinent. Seventeen
National Park System areas protect representative natural,
cultural, and historic features of this immense landscape. Ten
were created by the 1980 Alaska National Interest Lands
Conservation Act. |
